In the near future, Duke Energy will be performing gas leak and corrosion inspections in Hartwell. The inspections are a PHMSA Regulation under the US Department of Transportation and necessary for safe natural gas pipeline operations. Duke Energy has arranged for this work to be performed by Southern cross, Inc.

The inside piping inspections involves the gas piping from the building to the outlet of the gas meter located inside customers' premises. On average, an inspection should take approximately 10 minutes to complete . All covid precaution will be taken and the technicians will be readily identifiable by, wearing a southern cross picture ID, wearing a Duke Energy picture ID, having a contact number for the customer to call for verification and will be driving a Southern Cross vehicle.
